Pit Unscramblers
At a lot of pallet mills, the infeed is still a labor problem. People sorting random-length cants by hand, feeding the line at whatever pace they can manage, and creating gaps downstream every time they fall behind. When the gang is waiting on material, the whole line is waiting.
Pendu's pit unscrambler eliminates that bottleneck. Raw material loads onto a three-strand green chain infeed deck, moves to the pit, and the system automatically and continuously delivers sorted material to the powered infeed roll system. No manual handling between the pile and the line. The machine handles material from 6' to 18' in length. A heavy steel plate pit and electric gear drive motors are built to take the abuse of continuous, high-volume operation.
If your infeed setup needs something different, Pendu custom engineers and builds to your specific needs.
Pit unscramblers are available in configurations to match your infeed volume and material width requirements. The options below reflect what Pendu has already engineered and built for real production environments.
Double Infeed Deck: A double infeed deck configuration is available for operations that need to increase the volume of material feeding into the system.
Longer Radius Pit for Wide Boards: A pit configuration with a longer radius is available for operations processing wider boards that require more clearance through the pit.
FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions
How much material can I load at once?
The infeed deck holds a working supply so operators aren't feeding the line piece by piece. How much depends on your material length and how fast the line pulls from it. If your loader operator is currently making frequent trips, or the line runs dry between loads, that's the number worth working through together. Contact us, and we'll size it to your operation.
Do I need a pit in my floor?
The standard configuration sits in a pit, which is why floor layout comes up early in the conversation. If your facility doesn't have one, or putting one in isn't practical, tell us. Pendu has engineered around existing floor constraints on plenty of installations and will design to what's actually there.
