Stick Placer

Pendu builds stick placers that sit over the stacker and lay the sticks automatically each time a layer cycles out. Sticks are drawn from the bottom of the magazine and lowered onto the top tier of the package, whether the pack is headed for your kiln or out to a customer. Placement stays consistent from the first layer to the last, which is what an even dry depends on.

It can go with a stacker you already own or be built into a new stacking line.

Let’s start the conversation

Two things configure a stick placer.

Stick Size: The placer is built to handle the rough or planed stick you're already using.

Number of Heads: This is the maximum number of sticks you put on a bundle across your longest layer. Not the average, the worst case, since some species need more sticks than others. Most customers give it to us as centers: 12”, 18”, or 24”.

Magazines typically come in 48” or 72” lengths, adjustable from 12” to 24” on center, for material up to 16’. Longer lengths are available on request.

Packs going to the kiln: Sticks go between layers so air can move through and dry the lumber. The placer handles the sticking as the stacker builds the pack.

Running more than one species: Stick count changes by species. For example, if your placer has 17 pockets and a given species only needs 12 or 13, the operator shuts off the ones he doesn't need with a valve, or just leaves sticks out of them. Placers can also be repositioned if your pattern isn't evenly spaced.
